Tottenham’s season has drifted badly off course.

A run of poor league form has left Spurs marooned in the bottom half, while exits from both the FA Cup and EFL Cup have stripped away any margin for error. European nights have offered brief escapism, but domestically the pressure is building fast.

With injuries mounting and results failing to improve, Thomas Frank is now pushing the club to act decisively in the transfer market.

Spurs want experience, leadership and instant impact — and one proven Premier League winner has unexpectedly emerged on their radar.

Tottenham are “working on [a] deal” to sign Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, according to David Ornstein.

The surprise development follows confirmation that Ben Davies has suffered an ankle fracture, leaving Spurs light on options at left-back during a critical stretch of the season.

Robertson was previously considered by Tottenham as a possible free-agent signing in the summer, but talks have now shifted toward a January deal. Sources close to Liverpool stress that conversations remain at an early stage, with no agreement reached yet.

Liverpool are said to be open to dialogue out of respect for Robertson’s long-standing service and professionalism at Anfield, even if they would prefer not to lose him mid-season.

The Scotland international — described as “first-class” by journalist Dominic King — is regarded as one of the Premier League’s elite left-backs of the modern era. During his time at Liverpool, he has played a key role in multiple major honours, including two Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph.

However, with Milos Kerkez increasingly favoured this season, Robertson’s role has diminished, potentially opening the door to a late-window switch.

For Spurs, the appeal is obvious: a serial winner with relentless intensity, leadership, and elite-level experience — exactly the type of figure Frank believes could help steady a season threatening to unravel.

Quick take: Transfer watch: this move could reshape selection options and tactical balance in coming weeks. If incentives and add-ons are confirmed, expect follow-up negotiations or medicals to move quickly. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
