Fabrizio Romano confirms major Tottenham deal with PL club at “final stages”

Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson reportedly looks closer to a transfer to Crystal Palace, according to Fabrizio Romano’s latest post on X.

The Welshman has been given permission by Spurs to discuss personal terms with Palace, with a medical possibly set to follow soon.

Romano also says that Johnson will not be in the Tottenham squad to take on Brentford, with this deal clearly now very advanced following other reports in the last few days.

See below for the latest details from Romano’s post on X…

Romano said: “Brennan Johnson and Crystal Palace, deal at final stages as Tottenham give permission to the player to discuss personal terms with #CPFC. Medical could follow next as Brennan Johnson will NOT be in Spurs squad to face Brentford. Palace are on it. Here we go, soon.”

These reports follow Graeme Bailey posting in the last few days about Johnson making a move to Selhurst Park a priority.

See below for Bailey’s post about Johnson from earlier this week…

As revealed…Tottenham’s asking price is £35million for Brennan Johnson.

Crystal Palace are in talks and have agreed to meet that.@TEAMtalk understand Palace are Johnson’s preferred destination.

Overall, this looks like a good move for the 24-year-old, who has done well at Spurs without ever quite establishing himself as an automatic starter.

A move to Palace should give Johnson the chance to play more regularly and show just how valuable a player he can be in the Premier League.

Oliver Glasner also looks like a good manager to get the best out of Johnson at this next stage of his career, with Palace generally playing some good attacking football under the Austrian tactician.

Other attacking players have shone under Glasner’s management, and Johnson can help fill the gap left by the departing Eberechi Eze.

Johnson will leave Tottenham with a record of 27 goals in 107 games, including last season’s winning goal against Manchester United in the Europa League final.
