Chelsea have had a strong start under new manager Liam Rosenior, winning six of his first eight games in charge and impressing with both performances and morale.

While the Blues were knocked out of the EFL Cup semifinals by Arsenal, Rosenior’s handling of the squad and media has been widely praised, and players appear to be responding positively to his methods.

Despite the encouraging start, Rosenior is already looking ahead to the summer transfer window.

The English manager plans to overhaul the squad, removing fringe players and targeting high-quality additions, with one star player already on his radar.

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to make a major financial push to sign Argentina forward Julián Álvarez this summer.

However, the Atletico Madrid star is believed to favour a move to Barcelona if an offer materialises.

The 26-year-old former Manchester City striker has been linked with a sensational return to the Premier League, with Chelsea reportedly exploring the possibility of a transfer once the season concludes.

According to the Metro, Álvarez’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo, has recently been in the UK, possibly holding discussions with London-based clubs.

Despite Chelsea’s interest, Álvarez is not prioritising a move back to England. Barcelona are also admirers of the World Cup winner, although a transfer would likely require an offer in excess of €100 million, a figure that could make a deal difficult given the Catalan club’s current financial situation.

Álvarez’s quality is well established, with Lionel Messi describing him as “absolutely spectacular.”

The Argentina international boasts a World Cup winner’s medal and a treble-winning campaign with Manchester City, but his recent La Liga form has dipped, scoring just once in his last 15 appearances for Atletico. Even so, his talent and versatility make him a prime target for ambitious clubs like Chelsea.

Chelsea appear willing to invest heavily to secure a top-level attacker, with Álvarez representing a marquee signing to spearhead Rosenior’s summer rebuild.

While a Premier League return is not his first choice, Chelsea’s financial firepower could make them a serious contender if Atletico decide to sell.
