Zielinski: ‘Inter don’t know too much about Kairat, we can’t underestimate them’

Inter midfielder Piotr Zielinski has admitted that he and his teammates ‘don’t know too much’ about Wednesday’s Champions League opponents, Kairat, but insists that the Nerazzurri can’t afford to underestimate the Kazakh outfit.

Inter host Kairat in San Siro in the Champions League on Wednesday evening in what is the first ever meeting of the two sides.

You can follow the action from tonight’s game, and from Marseille vs. Atalanta, on the Football Italia Liveblog.

Inter have only lost once from their last 10 matches across all competitions, and also have a 100% win record in the Champions League this term. They could draw level with Arsenal and Bayern Munich at the top of the standings with another win on Wednesday night.

“It’s important to have confidence. The more games I play, the more I can help the team. The coach is great with everyone. I hope to carry on in this way,” Zielinski told Amazon Prime before kick-off.

The Poland international went on to give his pre-match assessment of tonight’s opposition.

“We don’t know too much about our opponents, but our staff have been good at showing us all their dangerous actions. They’re a team who have interesting players, they will come here to try and do their best and to enjoy the moment.

“They’re not lacking in character, they’ve got through four preliminary rounds, so we will need to play a serious game. We can’t underestimate them.”

And on his goal during Inter’s recent 2-1 win over Hellas Verona in Serie A, Zielinski said: “It was about time! I’d been missing a goal for quite a while. I’m happy to have scored, but more so about the victory, which was important and one we had to fight for.”

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
