Dusan Vlahovic has suffered a fresh blow to his season this evening after he suffered a possible thigh injury in Juventus’ match against Cagliari.
The Bianconeri had just levelled the scoreline at 1-1 when the Serbian forward went down and immediately signalled to the bench that he needed to come off.
Luciano Spalletti had both Lois Openda and Jonathan David warming up but eventually picked the Canadian forward.
David scored the winner midweek against Bodo/Glimt and will be looking to build on his confidence in Vlahovic’s place today.
Vlahovic looked visibly upset at having to come off, with reports suggesting the player told coach Spalletti that “I’ve really hurt myself” and the Bianconeri will be hoping it is nothing too serious.
However, Spalletti has a wealth of options at centre-forward and whilst Vlahovic would be missed, it would provide opportunity for the likes of David and Openda to step up in his place.
All that’s left is to wait for Juventus to assess the Serbian’s injury and calculate how long he is likely to miss.
Juventus have key matches in the next month against Napoli (December 7), Bologna (December 14) and Roma (December 20) – three potentially pivotal games at the top of Serie A.
