Tottenham Transfer News: Spurs lodge audacious £50m bid for European winger

Spurs have big plans for a £50m target who could be on his way out of his current club.

The Lilywhites are in desperate need of change as their season runs the risk of growing stale, with the weekend’s defeat to West Ham United threatening to spell the end of manager Thomas Frank’s time in charge.

Whatever fate comes the Dane’s way as Spurs continue to lick their wounds from another damaging loss, there is always the prospect of change via the transfer market, which still has a couple of weeks to run.

So far, Tottenham have seen Brennan Johnson go to Crystal Palace and brought Conor Gallagher into their midfield, but with no instant impact from the new arrival, frustrations are only growing in N17.

Despite this, Spurs are still reportedly active in the transfer market, and are hoping to nab a promising player from one of the best clubs in the land.

According to Fichajes, Spurs are willing to part with £50m to sign Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb.

The Norwegian has found first-team opportunities few and far between so far this season, and a loan move out of the Etihad Stadium has been mooted, with the likes of Spurs and Newcastle United previously linked.

The report suggests that Spurs are willing to hand the Norwegian a pivotal role in their squad, hence their heavy attempted investment.

James Maddison, currently out with injury, is mentioned as someone who will look to directly benefit from Bobb’s arrival.

Maddison’s creativity has been somewhat stunted since moving to Spurs, though the biggest blow was his devastating pre-season injury, particularly after an impressive 2024/25 that ended in Europa League glory.

Fichajes states that the idea from Spurs is to blend experience like Maddison’s with youth like Bobb’s, with the winger’s suitability in this regard impressing the coaching staff.

Bobb, meanwhile, has performed on occasion when handed a chance at City, although he has only started 17 times since his debut in 2023, which looks to be the primary cause of him heading toward the exit door.

Another intriguing aspect is that Man City are said to be considering Tottenham’s approach, appearing appreciative of the size of the bid.

However, with the Citizens ‘not in a hurry’, it’s Pep Guardiola’s side that holds all the cards at present.

Quick take: Transfer watch: this move could reshape selection options and tactical balance in coming weeks. If incentives and add-ons are confirmed, expect follow-up negotiations or medicals to move quickly. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
