Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll has dismissed reports that franchise co-owner Tom Brady meets offensive co-ordinator Chip Kelly several times a week after the NFL legend was seen in the coaches’ booth during the team’s 20-9 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.
Seven-time Super Bowl winner Brady wore a headset and looked at a tablet as the retired icon watched quarterback Geno Smith struggle on his second start in the Raiders’ first home game of the season.
“We have conversations,” said Carroll, calling the claims about Brady’s level of contact with Kelly “not accurate”.
“I talk to Tom, Chip talks to Tom regularly. We have a tremendous asset. We all get along well and respect each other.
“We just talk about life and football and whatever. He has great insight, so we’re lucky to have him as an owner.”
Brady completed his purchase of a 5% stake in the Raiders in 2024 but is not allowed to attend team practices or visit their facilities because he is the the lead analyst with broadcasters Fox Sports.
The 48-year-old was initially barred from attending weekly production meetings with coaches and players but is now allowed to when they are held virtually.
