Juventus preparing to swap full-backs with Bologna, Norton-Cuffy tricky

Reports from various outlets in Italy claim that Juventus and Bologna are closing in on a double loan deal that will see Emil Holm move to the Allianz Stadium and Joao Mario to the Dall’Ara.

Juventus are hoping to provide Luciano Spalletti with a suitable replacement for Pierre Kalulu, who has not missed a single minute of Serie A, Champions League or Coppa Italia action so far this season.

Joao Mario has been on the club’s books since last January, but has found opportunities hard to come by and looks increasingly likely to leave Juventus as things stand.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Saturday, Juventus and Bologna remain in talks over a potential swap deal for full-backs Holm and Joao Mario and talks are said to be progressing rapidly with just a few days of the January transfer window left to go.

If all goes smoothly, the two clubs are expected to shake hands on two separate loan deals.

Juventus are also said to be interested in the signing of Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who has also attracted interest from Inter and clubs in the Premier League this month.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, getting a deal done for the former Arsenal man in January is an increasingly complicated task given the lack of time remaining before the deadline and Genoa’s reluctance to sell the full-back midway through the season.

Norton-Cuffy, valued in the region of €25m, remains a potential option heading into the summer transfer window.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
