Spurs have emerged as an ideal destination for a Serie A winner struggling for game time at his current club, according to a report.
The news could be a welcome boost as Thomas Frank toys with the idea of bolstering his squad during the January window following a lacklustre 2025/26 campaign to date.
Tottenham are languishing in mid-table under the Dane, six months after he replaced Ange Postecoglou as Spurs boss.
It may require some inspired negotiating to instil some vigour into the Lilywhites’ lineup, with the north Londoners winning just once in the league since their victory against Everton over seven weeks ago.
In that time, Spurs have been thrashed by European champions PSG and local rivals Arsenal, though they are still well in the race for Champions League football and even an automatic last-16 place in this year’s competition.
These factors could yet persuade players to make their mark by coming to N17 in the coming weeks, with one report suggesting Spurs could steal a march on their rivals by offering plenty of minutes to a star midfielder.
Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi has emerged as a realistic target for Tottenham in January, according to Fichajes.
Spurs reportedly have plenty of competition for his signature, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.
But perhaps crucially, Tottenham’s ability to offer more of a guarantee in regard to game time could sway things in their favour if they were to press ahead with a concrete approach, making them one of Frattesi’s ‘most attractive’ options.
Fichajes notes that Frattesi himself values assurances over playing time as crucial as he explores his next move, with the Italian starting just four times all season – and just once in Serie A.
With the World Cup coming up and Italy not yet qualified, Frattesi may need to bank on getting as many minutes as possible, with the Azzurri not able to secure their tournament place until March.
Midfield is also an area of potential upgrade for Frank at Spurs, with the likes of Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski all out injured, while Xavi Simons has yet to really make a name for himself in N17.
And considering that Frattesi has not started regularly for Inter since the 2022/23 season, now could be an ideal time for a change. The task now for Spurs, if they are willing, is to persuade Inter to sell up this winter before a rival swoops in.
