Spalletti rejected Nottingham Forest before Juventus opportunity arose

Luciano Spalletti will soon be officially announced as the new head coach of Juventus following the sacking of Igor Tudor at the beginning of the week, and recent updates confirm that the former CT recently turned down an opportunity to take over at Nottingham Forest before the opportunity with the Old Lady arose.

Spalletti has already signed his contract with Juventus, and is now only an official announcement away from becoming the new Bianconeri head coach.

He replaces Igor Tudor, who had gone eight matches without a win across all competitions, had lost all of his last three and had not scored in any of his last four.

Spalletti has put pen to paper on an initial short-term contract that includes an option or a potential obligation to extend in the event that the Bianconeri qualify for next season’s Champions League.

According to recent reports from Fabrizio Romano, Spalletti, who has been out of work since leaving his role with the Italy national team at the start of the summer, turned down job offers from Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and from Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.

Spalletti was reportedly not sold on taking over at Forest in a delicate situation in the Premier League, despite the fact that they would have offered more than Juventus in terms of wages according to Romano.

Spalletti has been waiting for the right opportunity to arise, insisting that he is focused on the right sporting project, rather than the right economic offer.

For that reason, he also reportedly turned down a lucrative contract offer from Al-Ittihad as a replacement for Laurent Blanc in September. Former Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao took up that opportunity instead.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
