Napoli’s 1-0 victory away against Roma on Sunday evening means that there are currently four teams separated by just one point at the top of the Serie A table, which could become five teams if the in-form Bologna beat newly-promoted Cremonese on Monday night.
A single goal from David Neres gave Napoli a huge 1-0 victory away against Roma on Sunday evening. The Giallorossi, who had to do without suspended head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, had led the division by two points at the beginning of the weekend.
Napoli’s victory means that they are now in second place in Serie A, level on points (28) with Milan, who defeated Lazio 1-0 in San Siro on Saturday night.
Third place is currently occupied by Inter, who claimed a 2-0 win away against Pisa on Sunday afternoon.
Roma, who were two points clear of Milan on Saturday morning, are now in fourth place on 27 points, level with Inter.
Bologna are currently fifth on 24 points, but could also draw level with Inter and Roma if they beat Cremonese on Monday evening. Vincenzo Italiano’s side have won three in a row in Serie A, La Cremo have lost three on the spin.
The situation is even tighter than it was this time last year, which saw four teams separated by just two points after the first 13 rounds of fixtures. This had never previously happened in the three-points-per-win era in Serie A (Since 1994-95).
