Sarri: ‘Bad’ Serie A response to Rabiot’s Australia concerns

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri shares Adrien Rabiot’s concerns regarding the Milan-Como game played in Australia and believes the Frenchman has received a ‘bad’ response from Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo.

Milan midfielder Rabiot raised concerns over UEFA’s approval to play a Serie A game between Milan and Como in Australia in February 2026, but received a prompt reply from Serie A CEO De Siervo, who urged the Frenchman to “respect the money” he earns.

Lazio coach Sarri took a position in favour of the Milan midfielder during an interview with Lazio’s official channels.

“I think he [Rabiot] is right, and I think he has received a bad reply,” Sarri said via TMW.

“It doesn’t make sense to mention the money, especially because if Rabiot didn’t fight on the pitch every three days, not even the Lega Serie A would get the money. Among other things, Rabiot is a fantastic guy.”

Rabiot had said that playing Milan-Como in Perth next year was a “mad” decision.

Lega Serie A and FIGC backed Milan and Como’s proposals to play the game abroad, as the Stadio Meazza in San Siro will be occupied by the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in mid-February next year.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
