Roma open to Dovbyk sale but Ferguson convinces Gasperini even less

The future of Artem Dovbyk is hanging in the balance and it would not be surprising if he were to leave Roma in the coming weeks.

However, from Gian Piero Gasperini’s words yesterday, an even clearer picture has emerged: his level of appreciation for Evan Ferguson is lower still.

The coach did not mince his words. Gasperini would make the same choices again if he could go back, namely, Paulo Dybala as a false nine, with little regard for the talent signed from Brighton.

Dovbyk can still attract interest, particularly from England (a swap involving Beto has been mentioned but never developed) or Spain.

Ferguson, on the other hand, does not convince. The clear impression is that Gasperini’s comments were yet another message to the club.

As we have already reported, the coach has made his preferences clear: Giacomo Raspadori and Joshua Zirkzee.

Gasperini would like to secure the former Napoli forward immediately, allowing Roma to then wait for the green light from Manchester United regarding Zirkzee.

Timing will be crucial, so as not to further disappoint a coach who, last summer, felt his requests were not fully met.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
