Reports in Italy claim that Juventus are keen to circle back to the idea of signing Granit Xhaka during the January transfer window, just six months into his return to the Premier League with Sunderland.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are keen to add strength in depth to their midfield department, which has become overly-reliant on Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli, and that the Bianconeri are keen on the idea of signing Xhaka again.
The Switzerland international had been an option for the Old Lady during the summer transfer window, when he was available for a fee of €15m. According to Tuesday’s report, Xhaka did not tick all of Juve’s boxes over the summer, the obvious concern being his age, having turned 33 in September.
However, Juventus are now aware of the fact that they need new options in midfield ‘at all costs’, and believe that Xhaka offers them the best value for money, even if he is just a few months into his tenure with Sunderland.
As per Tuttosport, Juventus are aware that it will cost more than the €15m plus bonuses that Sunderland paid Bayer Leverkusen over the summer if they are to attempt a deal during the January transfer window.
