Report Balotelli has signed for Al-Ettifaq at age 35

Italy international Mario Balotelli is reportedly back in action, as Sky Sport Italia claim he signed for Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

The 35-year-old had been training with a fitness coach ever since his contract with Genoa was allowed to expire in June 2025, although he had been frozen out long before that due to a row with then-coach Patrick Vieira.

His last competitive match was in December 2024.

He had been linked with a potential move to Serie A or B clubs, but few seemed particularly eager to take a gamble on the striker.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, Balotelli has now signed a contract with Al-Ettifaq FC that will run to June 2028.

Some of SuperMario’s new teammates at Al-Ettifaq include Georginio Wijnaldum, Jack Hendry, Moussa Dembele and ex-Verona midfielder Ondrej Duda.

This is another new experience for the Italian after the likes of Inter, Manchester City, Liverpool, Milan, OGC Nice and Olympique Marseille.

It will mean he has played in Italy, England, France, Switzerland, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
