Player ratings: Fiorentina 1-1 Milan – Comuzzo shines, Pulisic off it

Christian Pulisic was not at his usual best in front of goal for Milan, who had to fight back to claim a 1-1 draw away against a resurgent Fiorentina side in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

Comuzzo gave Fiorentina the lead midway through the second half, only to see his goal cancelled out by a 90th-minute Christopher Nkunku equaliser. January signing Marco Brescianini then struck the woodwork deep into stoppage time.

You can see how the action unfolded on the Football Italia Liveblog.

Fiorentina: De Gea 6.5; Dodo 6.5, Pongracic 6, Comuzzo 7, Gosens 6 (Ranieri n/a); Mandragora 6 (Brescianini 6), Fagioli 6.5, Ndour 5.5 (Sohm n/a); Parisi 6, Kean 6, Gudmundsson 6.5 (Solomon n/a).

Best Fiorentina player: Pietro Comuzzo 7 – A well taken header, that for a while, looked like it was going to be enough for Fiorentina to cling onto. A solid all-round performance from the young Viola defender, who won 100% of his tackles and ended the game with a 95% pass completion rate.

Coach: Paolo Vanoli 6.5 – He will be bitterly disappointed not to have come away with all three points on this occasion. It was a slightly tired moment of defending in the 90th minute that cost the Viola. What was encouraging, though, was their response in the final moments. Brescianini was just inches away from making it 2-1 in the 95th minute. A really encouraging second-half display from Fiorentina, and not bad defensively speaking in the first 45 either.

Milan: Maignan 6.5; De Winter 6, Gabbia 6, Pavlovic 6 (Nkunku 7); Saelemaekers 6.5, Loftus-Cheek 6 (Fofana 6.5), Jashari 5 (Rabiot 6), Ricci 6, Estupinan 5 (Bartesaghi 6); Pulisic 5, Fullkrug 6 (Leao 6).

Best Milan player: Nkunku 7 – A man in decent form in front of goal at the moment. It was a brilliantly taken finish, cutting across goal with a powerful effort that found the top corner of the net. He mixed things up and brought an injection of energy up front after what had been a frustrating first-half in front of goal for Milan and particularly Christian Pulisic.

Coach: Massimiliano Allergi 6 – Milan did more than enough in terms of creating chances during the first half. Slightly better finishing and they might have been one or two up at the interval. The Rossoneri did, however, struggle to cope with a resurgent Fiorentina side at times after the interval, and Allegri will be particularly annoyed to have conceded from a set-piece.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
