Raffaele Palladino has recently been appointed as the head coach of Atalanta, replacing Ivan Juric after 11 matches of the Serie A season, and Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà explains why he is a perfect fit for La Dea, even though he was never truly in the running to take over at Juventus.
Palladino is getting a fresh start with an Atalanta squad that seems tailor-made to his style of football.
Atalanta had a substantial transfer window over the summer, and spent significantly across every department of the club. However, they did not see an immediate return on their investments, which is one of the many reasons why Ivan Juric was dismissed last week.
As we have previously reported, Palladino was never truly in the running for the recently-available Juventus job, nor was he for Fiorentina either for that matter.
Despite the rumours linking him with the Juventus job, now occupied by Luciano Spalletti, even in the hours leading up to Spalletti’s announcement, it was always clear that the former Italy national team head coach was the first pick for the Old Lady.
Palladino, however, will now be able to work in dept on a tactical level.
He has top-class options in every department, and Atalanta will give him a chance to pick up where he left off in Florence.
