Frankfurt have proven to be a must-watch team this season for all the good and the bad in their opening eight competitive games. All of their matches have produced a minimum of four goals, while they have netted at least three times in four of their five top-flight games. They started the Bundesliga season with commanding victories over Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, before they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. 

In their first season under former German national team assistant coach Sandro Wagner, FC Augsburg (1-0-4, 16th) stunned SC Freiburg on the opening day of the season, but have dropped four consecutive matches since. Three of those were one-goal defeats to FC Bayern München (2-3), FC St. Pauli (1-2), and 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 (1-2), and the other was a 1-4 defeat to 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Hoffenheim and Köln will hope to return to winning ways before October’s international break. The hosts drew with Freiburg a week after a customary defeat to the Rekordmeister. Köln only picked up a single point from the last three games following an excellent start to the campaign.

Back in the second tier as last season’s 3. Liga runners-up, Dresden have struggled to find their footing. Thomas Stamm’s side sit 15th with five points from seven matches and remain winless in their last four. Even when performances have been encouraging, victories haven’t followed - typified by consecutive 2-2 draws with Elversberg and Hannover 96.

Eintracht Braunschweig host high-flying SC Paderborn, and the two coaches under big pressure to deliver results go head-to-head in Friday's 2. Bundesliga games.
