Ghana forward Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer starred for Hamburger SV in their victory over Dutch outfit FC Groningen in a friendly encounter on Wednesday.The 24-year-old rediscovered his scoring form after netting his first goal in the Bundesliga to salvage a point for Hamburger SV at Volksparkstadion.Konigsdorffer, who will be missing Ghana's Kirin Cup tournament in Asia, stayed in camp as Hamburger continued preparations without their international stars.In a highly entertaining friendly, Emir Sahiti opened the scoring for the German's, rebounding home from an Imanuel Pherai's strike. Pherai then added the hosts second two minutes later.Just before half time Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira added the third for Hamburger to complete a dominant first half in style.David van der Werff pulled one back for the Eredivisie side three minutes after the break to set up a thrilling second half.Sahiti added his second to restore Hamburger's three-goal lead but Van der Werff responded again to halve the deficit.Konigsdorffer announced his presence nine minutes after coming on to make it 5-2 but his celebration was cut short after Mark Hoekstra reduced the deficit with a fine strike.Just before the game ended, Guilherme Ramos scored to wrap up an entertaining exercise.Konigsdorffer and his Hamburger teammates will face Augsburg after the international break.   

St Patrick's Athletic goalkeeper Joseph Anang is eager to make his first appearance for the Black Stars following his invite for the Kirin Cup tournament. The former West Ham United goalkeeper has received consistent call-ups since May 2025, but he is yet to make an appearance for the senior national team.With Heart of Oak and first choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare yet to arrive in camp, Anang is expected to start for the Black Stars in the game against Japan on Friday.An excited Anang posted following his arrival in Nagoya: "Grateful for another call up Black Stars of Ghana."The 25-year-old has been in fine form in the Irish League this year, keeping 18 clean sheets in 36 league games. He has however conceded nine goals in six Europa Conference League games, three of those matches ended with a clean sheet.Meanwhile, 18 players reported to training on Wednesday in Nagoya including goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi.The Black Stars will engage their Japanese counterparts on Friday in Nagoya before travelling to Seoul to face South Korea four days later.

Ghanaian-born midfielder Ibrahim Salifu has revealed that his decision to choose Benin over the country of his birth is to honour his late father.Salifu, who was born and raised in Ghana, represented the former African champions at various levels, but switched to play for Benin ahead of next month's Cup of Nations in Morocco.After a long wait from the Ghanaian federation for a senior call up, the former Hearts of Oak playmaker is hours away from making his debut for the Squirrels.According to the FC Drita star, he is convinced by his choice and wants to honour his father, who is from Benin.I am very happy to play for Benin, because my late father was also from Benin, so it is not difficult for me to change nationality, he told 299 Foot. Its an emotional moment for me and my family. I know he would have been proud to see this day," he added.Salifu could be on Gernot Rohr's list for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco if he manages to convince the German trainer.This is a new challenge and a big motivation for me.
