Roberto Mancini has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Al-Sadd, the most successful club in Qatar, marking the next step in his managerial career after leaving Saudi Arabia.
The former Italy boss, who led the Azzurri to Euro 2020 glory, had been linked with a possible return to Serie A, but has instead chosen to remain in the Gulf region.
Al-Sadd confirmed the appointment with a social media post unveiling Mancini holding the club’s shirt.
According to Fabrizio Romano, via GOAL, the experienced coach has signed a contract including a clause that allows him to leave as early as the summer of 2026.
The coach’s staff will include familiar faces for Italian football fans, with Cesar, his former player at Lazio and Inter, and Massimo Maccarone both joining him in Doha.
This marks his first club job in seven years, having last coached at Zenit St. Petersburg in 2018 before taking charge of the Italian national team and later Saudi Arabia.
