National Recreation and Wellness Programme calls for strong corporate support

Dr. Betty Krosbi Mensah, National Coordinator of the National Recreation and Wellness Programme, has shared the initiatives plans to broaden its reach through strategic collaborations with public and private organizations.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Dr. Mensah highlighted that the programme is already engaging government institutions, with a particular focus on security agencies, which are expected to serve as direct partners. She explained that the goal is to create regular, inclusive wellness activities that extend beyond personnel to their families and retired officers.

Weve begun stakeholder engagement, focusing on government institutions and private corporations alike. With security agencies, we hope to bring together officers, their families, and retired personnel through organized sporting activities. These events are intended to be regular, keeping this wide spectrum of participants active, she said.

Dr. Mensah also emphasized partnerships with the Ministry of Health to provide free health screenings as part of the initiative.

In the private sector, she noted the programme is working with corporate organizations and the National Sports Authority (NSA) to ensure wellness events are professionally managed.

We want to make sure these activities are safe and effective. Often, companies hold recreational events once in a while, but without proper guidance, participants risk injury or may not get the full benefit. By collaborating with the NSA, we can provide professional expertise, proper equipment, and consistent oversight, she said.

The National Recreation and Wellness Programme aims to go beyond annual events, coordinating regular wellness activities in collaboration with partner organizations. Dr. Mensah stressed that these efforts are designed not only to improve public health but also to enhance workplace performance across Ghana.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
