Napoli renew interest in Sevilla man Juanlu but face competition from Everton & Villarreal

Napoli have identified Juanlu Sánchez as a target for the January transfer window, with Antonio Conte keen to add depth on the right flank and ease the workload on captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

The Sevilla full-back has impressed across the last two seasons in La Liga, emerging as one of Spain’s most promising young defenders.

However, the Andalusian club have made it clear they will not sell below their valuation of €20 million, having already turned down lower bids.

And now, Sportal are reporting that Napoli are once again keen on the defender but face competition from abroad for his signature.

While Real Betis and Villarreal have expressed interest, the strongest competition currently comes from the Premier League, where Everton are pushing for a deal.

The Toffees are in need of a long-term right-back option following Ashley Young’s departure and Seamus Coleman’s advancing age, and view Juanlu as a natural fit.

Despite being only 22, Juanlu has already made close to 100 appearances for Sevilla, registering six goals and nine assists in the 2024-25 campaign. His tactical flexibility allows him to play both as a defender and in midfield, a trait that appeals to Conte’s system at Napoli.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
