Milan feel the absence of Rabiot and Pulisic: points average drops without key duo

Milan’s recent struggles have been underlined by their numbers, which show clearly just how much the Rossoneri have missed Adrien Rabiot and Christian Pulisic.

The pair, both standout performers in the opening months of the season, have been sidelined for several weeks, forcing Milan to cope without them.

Without Rabiot, the midfield loses its solidity and the club have struggled in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Pulisic’s absence in the attack has been sorely missed. Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez have struggled to perform and whilst Rafael Leao’s return from injury has been most welcome, the Portuguese international needs support.

The result of the two absences has been a sharp dip in the team’s points return, as noted by MilanNews.

When Rabiot and Pulisic were both on the pitch together, Milan averaged 2.5 points per game, collecting strong results such as wins over Bologna (1-0), Napoli (2-1) and Udinese (3-0), as well as a hard-fought draw away to Juventus.

Since their absence, however, the average has dropped to 1.8 points per match, despite Milan still avoiding defeat. Draws against Pisa, Atalanta and Parma have replaced the early-season promise that defined their opening weeks.
