Milan could move for new defender in January as Tomori addresses contract future

Fikayo Tomori says he is fully committed to Milan, while the club are expected to explore defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window.

The English defender spoke to SportMediaset about his future and made clear he has no intention of leaving San Siro.

Asked about a potential contract extension, Tomori replied that he feels at home in Milan and is not in a rush to enter talks. “Milan is a great club and until the directors tell me, ‘That’s enough’, I will stay here – this is my home,” he said, with quotes via MilanNews.

“I honestly haven’t thought much about the renewal because I want to focus on the next match, as the coach asks. When they want to talk about the contract, then I will think about it.”

While Tomori remains a pillar of the back line, reports in Italy suggest the club will still look to add depth. With Allegri now settled on a back three, Milan lack an experienced fifth centre-back behind Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic and De Winter, with only the 19-year-old David Odogu as cover.

The club’s position in Serie A, currently top after seven rounds, is not expected to alter the strategy. Allegri has urged his squad to stay focused on daily work rather than the table, repeatedly insisting that the real title picture will only take shape from March onwards.

However, Tuttosport claims Milan believe an additional defender will be needed to sustain a Scudetto push over a long season, especially with rotation and injuries inevitable in the coming months.

A clearer market blueprint is expected to form during the next international break, though the priority profile is already defined: a ready-made central defender with personality and experience.

Quick take: Transfer watch: this move could reshape selection options and tactical balance in coming weeks. If incentives and add-ons are confirmed, expect follow-up negotiations or medicals to move quickly. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
