Manchester United make Zirkzee decision as Roma send first offer

Multiple sources claim that Roma have already sent an opening offer to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United, but the Red Devils are unwilling to let the Dutchman go before mid-January.

It is no secret that ex-Bologna star Zirkzee is Roma’s priority target in attack for the winter transfer window, as Gian Piero Gasperini gave the green light to sign the Dutch forward weeks ago.

Corriere dello Sport and Fabrizio Romano have now reported that the Giallorossi have already sent an opening offer to sign the ex-Bologna striker.

It’s a proposal to sign Zirkzee on loan with an obligation to buy tied to certain conditions, namely Roma’s qualification for the Champions League. As per Corriere dello Sport, the transfer package is worth €30m, not too far off the Red Devils’ demands.

Zirkzee is reportedly open to joining Roma next month, but Sky Sport notes that Manchester United don’t want to let him go in the coming days because they have a lack of options in attack due to injuries and players on AFCON international duty, especially Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo.

The AFCON Final will be played on January 18, so Manchester United are likely to keep Zirkzee until mid-January.

The Giallorossi are also in talks with Atletico Madrid over Giacomo Raspadori as Gasperini hopes to welcome both the Italian and Zirkzee to the Olimpico next month.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
