Manchester City are keeping tabs on Tottenham right back Pedro Porro. Porro is currently locked in negotiations with Tottenham over a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire in 2028.

The Spain international is currently earning less than £100,000-a-week at Tottenham, and is due for a significant rise in pay. At 26, he is entering his prime and could command a sizeable wage package.

TeamTalk has reported that Spurs are now looking to tie the player down to fend off interest from circling suitors, one which is Porro’s former club Man City. Porro was on the books at City from 2019-2022, but never made a first team appearance.

He joined city in 2019 from sister club Girona, and was immediately loaned to Real Vallodolid for a season. On his return he was loaned again, this time to Sporting Lisbon on a two-year loan with a €20m option to buy.

Sporting took up that option in 2022, before selling the player just six months later for double that amount. The man responsible for bringing Porro to Sporting was Hugo Viana who is now in charge at City.

Viana reportedly remains a huge fan of Porro and could lead the charge for the player.

City are understood to be in the market for a new right back after using midfielder Matheus Nunes as a makeshift right back for much of the season. City have struggled defensively for parts of the campaign and started the season slowly.

They have found their form and now sit just two points behind league leaders Arsenal, but the fullback positions remain an area for concern. Young midfielder Nico O’Reilly has deputized at left back in the absence of new signing Rayan Ait-Nouri who suffered an injury.

City are also interested in Newcastle right back Tino Livramento as they continue their fullback search.
