Liverpool’s 2025/26 season has been a nightmare compared to last year’s Premier League glory.
The Reds have lost seven of their last 10 games across all competitions, leaving them eighth in the Premier League table.
Defensively, they have looked fragile, while in midfield, new signing Florian Wirtz has struggled to adapt. Up front, injuries and inconsistent form have made life even harder.
January is expected to bring reinforcements, but after a big summer spend, Liverpool may need to move players on to fund new arrivals.
One player who could be on the exit list is Harvey Elliott.
Harvey Elliott is reportedly attracting interest from Bundesliga and Serie A clubs ahead of the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been described as “quality” by Arne Slot, is currently on loan at Aston Villa but has only managed 97 Premier League minutes so far this season.
Liverpool could recall Elliott in January, but having already played for two clubs this season, he cannot go out on loan again. That has cast serious doubt over his long-term future at Anfield, with a permanent sale now looking increasingly likely.
The current loan included an obligation for Villa to buy him for £35 million, but that deal looks set to be scrapped. Liverpool recognize that Elliott’s lack of game time has decreased his market value and are now prepared to sell him at a cut-price fee compared to the summer.
A January exit could provide Elliott with the playing time he needs to get his career back on track while allowing Liverpool to reinvest in Slot’s squad plans.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
