Chelsea right back Malo Gusto is being monitored by Juventus ahead of a potential January swoop. Gusto has split time with Reece James as Enzo Maresca’s first choice right backs, and remains a key figure for the Blues.

He joined the club in January of 2023 in a €30m deal from Lyon, and has gone on to make 66 Premier League appearances. He’s made seven Premier League appearances so far this season, three from the substitutes bench.

Italian publication Calciomercarto has reported that Juventus are now keen on Gusto after failing in their attempt to capture their first target Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid last summer. Gusto fits the bill of a pacey and technical full back capable of covering the entire flank.

Juve manager Igor Tudor is a big admirer of the player, having faced him when the two plied their trades in France with Marseille and Lyon respectively. Juventus sold Alberto Costa and Timothy Weah last summer, leaving new signing Joao Mario as the club’s only natural right wingback.

Mario has failed to nail down consistent minutes however, meaning Pierre Kalulu has had to deputize.

Gusto is not expected to be available for transfer at the moment and would likely be a difficult deal for Juventus to complete. Gusto remains an important member of Maresca’s side, and the only natural cover for Reece James who has struggled with injuries.

The player’s current deal expires in 2030, having signed a long term deal when joining the club. He would likely command a price higher than the €30m Chelsea signed him for.

The two clubs have an amicable relationship, having completed a deal to send Renato Veiga from Chelsea to Juventus last January on loan. They couldn’t find an agreement on a permanent summer transfer however, so Veiga instead joined Villarreal.
