Journalist sends renewal message to Maignan with brilliant analogy: “My yoghurt expires”

Amid Mike Maignan’s contract situation, which has been a hot topic ever since the summer, the journalist Michael Cuomo has sent a frank message to the goalkeeper.

Maignan was heavily linked with a departure already in the summer, courted by Chelsea before the Club World Cup, but he ended up staying at the club. Massimiliano Allegri’s arrival supposedly played a big part in that, while Igli Tare agreed on a ‘pact’ with the former Lille man.

However, with the January window and six-month warning approaching, Milan are seemingly no closer to a contract renewal. This has raised some doubts among the Rossoneri fans and only time will tell how the saga will end.

In an interview with MilanNews, published this morning, the Telelombardia journalist Michael Cuomo was asked about the Maignan renewal. More specifically, he answered the question ‘Will Maignan renew?’ and did so brilliantly.

“I’m very honest and very clear-cut. I can say I’ll go have a drink with you, the next day I’ll go to dinner with you, and the third day I’ll go for a walk. But then you always say no, finding a different excuse every day: today I have to work, tomorrow I have to take the cat to the vet, on the weekend my yoghurt expires and I have to stay home and eat it.

“Today, we know that Maignan is open to discussions about a renewal. But I want to see Maignan at the table. Or his agent. I also want to have a drink with you, but then, because you don’t want it, nothing gets done.

“So about Maignan, I say this: fine words, good intentions, but let’s see the facts. The only real fact at the moment is that Maignan can sign with anyone in a month,” he stated.
