Italy U20 Carmine Nunziata praises his players despite a Round of 16 elimination in the U20 World Cup, claiming that USA’s 3-0 win was a ‘misleading result.’
Italy U20 Nunziata is satisfied with his team’s results and performances in the U20 World Cup despite elimination in the Round of 16 at the hands of the USA.
Parma starlet Benjamin Cremaschi inspired the USA’s victory with a brace.
“The lads put in a good performance; the scoreline surely is misleading, but we could have done something more in the final third,” said Nunziata via TMW.
“We have to congratulate these lads for what they did in this tournament. We were one of the youngest teams in the tournament, and today we faced one of the most experienced. The path of many of these lads will resume from the U19 after this great World Cup experience.”
Italy had finished as runners-up in Group D, beating Australia 1-0, drawing 2-2 against Cuba and losing 1-0 to Argentina, the eventual group winners.
