Immobile and Ravaglia: ‘Bologna want the Supercoppa trophy’

Ciro Immobile and Federico Ravaglia assure Bologna will ‘face the Supercoppa Final with the utmost ambition’ against Napoli after eliminating Inter on penalties. ‘We want to bring the trophy home.’

The Rossoblu had the worst possible start to this evening’s semi-final in Riyadh, as they were trailing within 73 seconds thanks to a Marcus Thuram volley.

However, Riccardo Orsolini converted a spot-kick for Yann Bisseck’s handling offence to equalise, and as they could not be divided after 90 minutes, it went straight to a penalty shoot-out.

There was an odd run of five consecutive failed attempts from the two teams, but Immobile kept his cool to convert the decisive kick.

“Penalties are a lottery, Fede did really well to save two and gave us the chance to step up with a little more calm,” Immobile told Sport Mediaset.

The veteran was a substitute off the bench for Bologna, as he has barely played this term due to injury problems.

“I needed this goal, I suffered for three and a half months, but my family stayed with me and the team almost felt like this goal was coming tonight.”

Now Bologna will face Napoli in the EA Sports FC Supercup on Monday evening in Riyadh, aiming to win their first ever Supercoppa Italiana.

“We saw last night’s game, Napoli are in great shape, but it’s a one-off match and anything can happen. We want to bring the trophy home.”

Goalkeeper Ravaglia was standing in for injured Lukasz Skorupski this evening, but he proved decisive with saves on Alessandro Bastoni and Ange-Yoan Bonny, while Nicolò Barella ballooned his attempt over the bar.

“It’s indescribable, we came here to honour the tournament and try to go all the way. We did well to hold Inter for 90 minutes, then the shoot-out is a lottery,” Ravaglia told Sport Mediaset.

“We came here to get the trophy, we’ll face the Final with the utmost ambition.”

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
