Gimenez father: ‘He is happy at AC Milan and wants to stay’

While the speculation continues over his future at AC Milan, Santiago Gimenez’s father insists the striker ‘is living a dream and wants to stay here.’

The centre-forward is currently out injured after an ankle problem, and is not in the squad for this evening’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Even before that, he had struggled to make an impact under Max Allegri, contributing one goal and two assists in 11 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season.

However, his father and agent Christian ‘Chaco’ Gimenez insists the player is going nowhere.

“Santi has great affection for Milan, so he is living a dream,” his father told the Vamos Show podcast on YouTube.

“There are photographs I have of Santi at the age of 6 and 9, wearing the Milan jersey. I still have at home a Milan jacket he wore when he was 10 years old.

“Santi wants to stay at Milan. This is an important club, where he must perform at the maximum level. He’s very happy here, as we had many proposals from Saudi Arabia and more, but when Milan arrived, he said he only wanted to go there.”

The feeling does not appear to be entirely mutual, as Rossoneri director of sport Igli Tare had openly suggested exchanging him with Artem Dovbyk at Roma in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Gimenez was purchased from Feyenoord in February 2025 for €30.2m plus add-ons and a percentage of the future sale fee.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
