
Barau FC midfielder Nana Kwame Abraham suffered a deep cut to his neck after being attacked by Katsina United fans during their Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clash on Saturday afternoon.The 23-year-old was reportedly assaulted moments after Barau FC equalised against the home side in their Week 12 fixture of the ongoing season.Barau FC confirmed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of the injured player with blood on his neck. The club wrote:â70â² The match is temporarily halted following an attack on Barau FC player, Nana Abraham. Katsina United | 1â1 | Barau FC.âThe violence reportedly erupted shortly after Orji Kaluâs 69th-minute equaliser, which infuriated some sections of the home supporters.Although the match ended 1â1, the disturbing incident has once again raised concerns over fan behaviour and security in the NPFL. It follows a recent case where Kano Pillars supporters attacked a referee after 3SC scored a late equaliser in another league fixture.Nana Kwame joined Barau FC from Nigerien side AS GNN ahead of the 2025/26 NPFL season.Born to a Ghanaian father and Nigerien mother, the energetic midfielder has provided one assist in seven appearances so far this campaign.
