The Southern Sector Elite Academy, a partnership between the Ghana Football Association and Achimota School, has officially commenced full operations, marking a major step forward in the GFA’s nationwide elite youth development pathway.A delegation led by Joseph Tetteh Zutah, alongside Stuart McLaren, Michael Adu-Asare and Esme Mends, visited Achimota School on Monday, December 8, to hand over essential training equipment. The package comprised 30 footballs, three sets of training jerseys, bibs, markers, cones, and two sets of official match-day kits to support the academy’s technical and physical development programmes.Seventeen players drawn from the Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta regions have been admitted into the academy after a thorough scouting and assessment process. The group has since begun intensive training under FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren and his assistant coaches, who are responsible for implementing the GFA’s modern youth curriculum. The activation of the Southern Sector Academy completes the full rollout of the GFA Elite Academy project. With the Northern and Middle Belt Academies already in operation, all three centres are now functioning, reinforcing the Football Association’s long-term strategy to create a unified and sustainable national talent development structure.
