Liverpool are enduring a frustrating spell on and off the pitch.
Midweek, the Reds were held to a 1–1 draw by high-flying Sunderland, relying on a late own goal from Nordi Mukiele to rescue a point that many felt they did not deserve. It was another game that exposed ongoing issues in the squad.
Up front, Alexander Isak remained largely invisible, unable to make an impact, while Florian Wirtz failed to create any meaningful chances, leaving Liverpool’s attack blunt and predictable. Defensively, the team looked shaky once again, prompting concerns over consistency at the back.
Mohamed Salah, who was omitted from the starting lineup after a string of underwhelming performances, came on at half-time but was unable to influence the game.
With form dipping and contract uncertainty looming, it is increasingly clear that Salah’s future at Anfield could soon be in doubt.
According to a new report from Fichajes, Turkish giants Galatasaray are preparing a high-profile offer to bring the Egypt captain to Istanbul.
Salah, 33, is reportedly being targeted with a package worth £15–16.5 million per season, which would place him among the highest earners in the Süper Lig and signal the club’s ambition to compete for European prominence.
The Saudi Pro League is also understood to be monitoring the situation closely, ready to table a lucrative offer should Salah decide to explore a new challenge abroad. For now, Liverpool are holding firm, but the competition for one of Africa’s most celebrated footballers could intensify over the coming months.
Adding further intrigue to the saga, Salah has faced criticism from Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who last year labelled the forward “selfish” for publicly commenting on his contract situation, and now has accused him of being selectively silent amid Liverpool’s struggles.
“A year ago this weekend, Mo Salah wasn’t shy in speaking about his own situation and the club not offering him a contract. I only ever hear Salah speak when he gets man of the match or when he needs a new contract,” said Carragher.
He added: “I would like to see Salah as one of the leaders and legends of Liverpool come out and speak for the team.”
With his contract still unresolved and options emerging abroad, Salah may soon face one of the most significant decisions of his career, with his next move potentially reshaping both his legacy and Liverpool’s plans.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
