Fresh blow for Juventus as Rugani faces 3-4 weeks out

Juventus have been dealt another defensive setback with Daniele Rugani ruled out for several weeks after suffering a muscle injury during training on Tuesday, November 18. The Italian centre-back underwent scans at J Medical, where tests confirmed a low-grade lesion to the soleus muscle in his right leg.

The club release read: “Following a muscle issue sustained during Tuesday’s training session, Daniele Rugani underwent radiological tests at J|Medical this morning. The tests revealed a low-grade injury to the soleus muscle in his right leg.”

Although not the most serious type of injury, recovery for this kind of strain typically takes a minimum of three weeks – and Juventus are already preparing for the possibility that Rugani may be sidelined slightly longer depending on how the muscle responds.

It means Rugani will miss all of Juve’s remaining matches in November and is also set to be absent for the first fixtures of December.

The earliest realistic return date is after mid-December, with the defender targeting a comeback between the clashes with Bologna and Roma or potentially for the final match of 2025 against Pisa.

The timing is far from ideal for Massimiliano Allegri, who has been rotating heavily at the back and will now lose a reliable depth option during a congested period of the season.

Juventus’ schedule means Rugani is confirmed out for six matches: Fiorentina, Bodo Glimt, Cagliari, Udinese (Coppa Italia), Napoli and Pafos, with his availability for the Bologna game still in doubt.

Quick take: Injury outlook: depth players may get minutes, but the knock could strain the side’s rhythm. Recovery timelines will guide expectations; international duty could also be impacted. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
