Former defender urges Juventus to bring back Del Piero

Former Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie feels the Bianconeri should appoint Alessandro Del Piero as a club director to give a ‘touch’ of the club’s identity.

Juventus should bring Del Piero back to the club and let him work as a club director, says ex-Bianconeri centre-back Legrottaglie.

The former Italy international spent several years at the club, from 2006 to 2011, crossing paths with some club legends such as Giorgio Chiellini and Del Piero himself.

Chiellini already has a role at the Allianz Stadium, while Del Piero has never hidden his desire to return to the club one day.

“I believe Juventus need a credible image right now. Giorgio was the club’s captain; he’s an intelligent person, and he’s always gone beyond the playing field,” Legrottaglie told Tuttosport.

“Of course, he’ll need some time as well, but if we go back to values, then I consider the club’s voice absolutely the right one.”

As for Del Piero, Legrottaglie has clear ideas.

“Well, how could you not think of him? He would be another point of reference,” said the former defender.

“Alex has charisma, depth and a very high level of integrity. It’s no coincidence that he’s in my book, one of the 12 players who represent certain values. He’s the image of gratitude.

“Just the idea of having him alongside Chiellini would bring an important touch of Juventus’ identity. The specific role depends on the internal dynamics that might develop, but it would be the right choice.”

Juventus’ shareholders meeting took place yesterday, November 7, 2025, confirming Gianluca Ferrero as the club president.

Legrottaglie scored 10 goals in 154 appearances with the Bianconeri during his playing career.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
