Fabregas: ‘Como must stay humble – but we’re learning how to win’

Cesc Fabregas urged Como to stay humble but keep pushing for more as his side prepare to face Cagliari in Serie A after their impressive 0-0 draw with Napoli.

“We’re still at the beginning, but the team is growing,” Fabregas said in his pre-match press conference, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb.

“We’re conceding fewer goals, the players believe in what we’re doing, and the young ones keep stepping up. There are still moments where we can do better – especially in games like Bologna, Genoa and Cremonese.”

Asked about the goalless draw at the Maradona, Fabregas admitted he was “angry not to win,” but said Como must now take “one more step” to become a team that dominates matches.

“We need to shoot more,” he added, “but we’re working on how we attack. I see a complete squad, and now I want us to be more dominant.”

On injuries, Fabregas confirmed that Kempf is fit to play, while Goldaniga will undergo surgery and miss around two months. Dossena should return to training soon, and Sergi Roberto is expected back after the international break.

The former Barcelona midfielder also praised his team’s mentality: “If we want to be up there, we must win and not lose. To make the Napoli point count, we have to beat Cagliari.”

When asked if Como would ever concede possession, Fabregas smiled: “Never. Maybe you’ll score on the counter, but for me it doesn’t exist. I’m Italianising a little because I want to win.”

Quick take: Match context: momentum and small details could decide this one, especially set-pieces and transitions. Form and fitness will matter; expect managers to rotate carefully around the congested schedule. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
