Fabiani: ‘Guendouzi is a Lazio player, no official offers from Fenerbahce’

Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani has provided an update on the stats of midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico in January: ‘We’ve not received any official offers from Fenerbahce.”

The Biancocelesti director spoke to DAZN ahead of kick-off between Lazio and Napoli in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

Lazio, who were impacted by transfer restrictions over the summer, are expected to be one of the busier Serie A sides during the January window.

Striker Taty Castellanos is on the verge of being unveiled as a new West Ham player, while reports have linked Matteo Guendouzi with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico this month.

With Castellanos having played his last game for Lazio, Tijjani Noslin keeps his place at centre-forward on Sunday.

“Sarri makes the technical decisions, he’s always had the utmost trust in Noslin, and I’m not just saying that following the sale of Taty,” Fabiani told DAZN. “He would have started today anyway. He’s a reliable player who has waited patiently for his moment and the results are proving him right.”

Fabian then spoke about the status of Guendouzi. The Frenchman is still a Lazio player, but Fabiani admits that anything could happen during the transfer window.

“At the moment, Guendouzi is not on his way out. That said, we have a duty to evaluate everything for the good of the club. We’ve started the process of a potential renewal, so we’ll see.

“We’ve not received any official offers from Fenerbahce. At the moment, he’s a Lazio player. That doesn’t mean that we won’t make evaluations if offers do arrive, and that we won’t listen to the player, like we did with Castellanos.

“Our project hasn’t just started today, we’ve already had big departures in Milinkovic-Savic, Luis Alberto, Felipe Anderson. Those were tough, but if offers arrive, it means that we are reaping the rewards.

“Naturally, Taty will be replaced, as well as any others who might be sold to continue on our journey of growth.”

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
