D’Aversa waits for Fiorentina green light as Pioli sacked

Roberto D’Aversa is the hot name to replace Stefano Pioli at Fiorentina, but the Tuscans might wait for the November break to appoint a new coach.

Fiorentina confirmed Stefano Pioli’s sacking with an official statement on Tuesday.

Fiorentina added in their statement that U20 coach Daniele Galloppa will lead the team ‘temporarily.’

Pioli, an ex-Milan coach, had not won any of the opening ten Serie A games of the season but still refused to resign after a 1-0 home loss against Lecce on Sunday.

Fiorentina visit Mainz in the Conference League on Thursday and will then travel to Genoa on Sunday for the last game before the break.

Ex-Parma coach D’Aversa is the leading candidate for the job. D’Aversa, however, has not yet arrived in Florence and is waiting for the final green light to be appointed.

With such a tight fixture list, Fiorentina could even decide to make the new coach operative during the November break, but this will only be decided in the coming days.

Quick take: Touchline talk: leadership changes often bring short-term energy but require time for structure. Watch for shifts in pressing triggers, build-up patterns, and set-piece routines. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
