Black Queens coach eyes longer preparations ahead of 2026 WAFCON

Bjorkegren, who guided the team to a bronze medal at the last edition in Morocco, believes extended preparation would improve performance and cohesion."I would love it if we could stay together for a couple of weeks before the tournament starts," Bjorkegren told Joy Sports. "It depends a little bit on the FIFA window and all those kinds of things, but that time really helps us when we can spend more time training, meeting, and getting together."The Swede insisted that short preparation periods, such as just two or three training sessions before matches, limit the teams ability to perform at its best, adding that a longer camp could make a significant difference.Black Queens are set to begin preparations with a high-profile friendly against England on December 2.The match will provide head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren an opportunity to assess his squad and experiment with tactics before planning a longer training camp ahead of the tournament.
