Barcelona considering Vlahovic to replace legendary Lewandowski

Reports in Italy claim that Barcelona are looking at the possibility of signing Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement for the legendary Robert Lewandowski, who could be allowed to leave Camp Nou at the end of his contract this summer.

Like Lewandowski, Vlahovic is also approaching the end of his current contract, and according to reports from Tuttosport, is still likely to leave Juventus for free at the end of the season despite his encouraging start to the 2025-26 campaign.

Vlahovic, who had a tough season on an individual and collective level in 2024-25, had been expected to leave Juventus during the summer transfer window with just one year remaining on his deal. He ended up staying onboard, however, and is now into the final 12 months of his contract.

The 25-year-old now has four goals from eight appearances between Serie A and the Champions League at the start of this season, and with only two of those outings being starts, he is currently averaging a goal every 63 minutes.

According to reports from Tuttosport, Barcelona are considering making a move for the Serbia international on a free transfer to replace Lewandowski, who could also be allowed to leave upon the expiry of his contract.

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, already established contact with Vlahovic’s agent Darko Ristic over the summer, and could potentially return for more talks further down the line.

According to Thursday’s report, Vlahovic is one of ‘two or three’ strikers currently under consideration at Barcelona. There are suggestions that Bayern Munich are also interested, however, that would likely be as an understudy, or to provide competition for England national team captain Harry Kane.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. Continental stakes raise the intensity, where away goals no longer apply but margins still feel razor thin. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
