Arsenal have been given a boost in their pursuit of Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi as sources have revealed the player favours a move to the Emirates over all other suitors. The highly rated 23-year-old is contracted to Dortmund until the summer of 2027 but could leave before that as contract extension talks have stalled.

Adeyemi has scored three goals and added three assists in 14 appearances this season, as Dortmund sit 3rd in the Bundesliga table. Dortmund are keen to extend the player’s deal and increase his wages from €5.7m a year to €7.2m a year (around £96,000 a week to £122,000 a week).

TeamTalk has reported that super agent Jorge Mendes – who represents the player – feels his client is worth a bigger package and has begun talks with interested parties. While Manchester United are confirmed to be interested suitors, Adeyemi’s entourage have reportedly signaled a preference for London over Manchester – and Arsenal’s project in particular.

Premier League clubs are known to be amongst the highest paying clubs. Dortmund are known to sell young stars at the peak of their value and could be resigned to lose Adeyemi over the summer if an agreement cannot be reached.

The player will have just one year remaining on his deal at that point.

Adeyemi is not angling for a move away from Dortmund, but is reportedly open to a new challenge. The player believes his game is suited to the Premier League and favours Arsenal ahead of all suitors.

He has not ruled out other leagues however, with Inter Milan and Barcelona also known admirers. Adeyemi has 11 caps for Germany and is pushing for a place in next summer’s World Cup squad.

Arsenal signed Noni Madueke last summer but are reportedly open to offers for Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. Mikel Arteta might find himself back on the market for attacking reinforcements in the near future.
