Gian Piero Gasperini has already given the green light for Joshua Zirkzee’s move to Roma in January, as he feels the Dutch striker is ideal for his playing style.
Roma coach Gasperini has given the green light to Zirkzee’s move to the Stadio Olimpico in January.
Sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell me that the Italian tactician already wanted to bring Zirkzee to Atalanta in the past, despite having little chance to sign the Dutch striker from Bologna due to stiff competition.
The coach has already discussed possible transfer moves with Roma directors, approving Zirkzee’s possible signature in the January window.
Now it’s up to Manchester United and their requests. There’s a chance Roma will sign Zirkzee on loan with an option to buy, while the striker would be glad to return to Italy.
The only risk for Roma is that, in the coming weeks, other clubs knock on Manchester United’s door, making a substantial offer to sign the striker permanently.
This is why Roma and Gasperini are forced to wait now, but the coach feels Zirkzee is ideal for his playing style, as he can either play as a centre-forward or in a wider position.
The Italian tactician would love to work with Zirkzee at the Olimpico, but is also aware that Roma would need two new signings in attack in the winter transfer window.
