22-year-old Roma attacking midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi is beginning to attract transfer interest approaching the January window, and Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà explains why Hellas Verona could be ready to pounce in a few weeks’ time.
Baldanzi is content with the admittedly limited chances he has been receiving at Roma this season: He did well when he came on during the 2-0 win over Udinese over the weekend.
The former Empoli talent was not, however, included on Roma’s UEFA squad list, and is therefore ineligible to feature in the Europa League as things stand.
He was effectively sacrificed for the first half of the 2025-26 season, but the future could still bring changes for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.
Last summer, there was interest from Hellas Verona, and Baldanzi had expressed his approval over a potential move, but head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was the one who ended up blocking the move.
The Giallorossi head coach had been targeting a move for Jadon Sancho, and given that a move for the Englishman did not materialise, and given that Gasperini did not land any of the other attacking options he had desired, he decided against approving any more outgoings.
Verona are ready to return to the table in January, though. And, following Daniele Ghilardi’s move from the Bentegodi to the Olimpico over the summer, Verona have a good relationship with the Giallorossi.
Verona are hoping to add another quality addition who can help them out in the final third.
Roma, meanwhile, are interested in Verona’s Giovane. It’s too early to draw any conclusions, but we expect there to be some developments, which is worth keeping an eye on.
