Roma wait for Man United decision on Zirkzee and meet 20-year-old striker

Matteo Moretto reports that Joshua Zirkzee is a name ‘everyone agrees on’ at Roma, but the Giallorossi are also following two promising strikers: the 20-year-old Malek El Mala and Jeremy Arevalo.

Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto confirms Roma are following Zirkzee, as previously reported by other media.

Moretto added in his latest YouTube video that the Dutch striker is ‘the profile everyone agrees on’ at Roma as the Giallorossi want to sign a new centre-forward in the January transfer window.

Zirkzee has been struggling for playing time this season, but Manchester United have yet to make a decision on a possible January exit.

Moretto reports that the ex-Bologna striker has many offers, but he’d love to return to Serie A.

Roma are also monitoring ‘with great attention’ Malek El Mala, a 20-year-old striker under contract with FC Köln and Jeremy Arevalo, a striker of Racing Santander in La Liga 2.

Arevalo has scored seven goals in 12 games this season, and according to Moretto, his family has already travelled to Rome to talk with the Giallorossi directors and listen to their project.

Other clubs are interested in the 20-year-old, but Roma were one of the first clubs to move for the promising striker.

Arevalo has played for Ecuador U20, but was born in Spain and has a Spanish passport, so he’d not feature as an extra-EU player.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
