Toppmöller hopeful Götze will stay at Eintracht: "We will definitely find a solution"

Mario Götze’s future is uncertain, with the German World Cup winner’s contract at Eintracht Frankfurt set to expire at the end of the season.

SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller has now made it very clear that he would like the attacking midfielder to stay.

“Yes, that would be great. He is a very special player, and I really enjoy working with him,” Toppmöller said on the Bild podcast ‘Phrasenmäher’ when asked about the 33-year-old.

“We will definitely find a solution if he also wants it. There will certainly be talks in the winter,” the coach added.

Götze has previously expressed openness to an extension, stating that “the ball is in the club’s court”.

“If it makes sense for the club and me, then that’s a possibility. If I could draw up my own contract, it wouldn’t end next summer,” Götze told Sport Bild.

“First and foremost, I listen to myself and my body, and of course my family. But don’t forget: I can’t give myself a contract the ball is in the club’s court. And I’m not a sporting director.”

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
