Champions League: Trent injured in Real win as Juve and Dortmund draw 4-4

Trent Alexander-Arnold was injured just five minutes into Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League win over Marseille.

The England defender pulled up with what looked like a hamstring injury, before his replacement Dani Carvajal was sent-off for a headbutt on Marseille goalkeeper Geronimio Rulli.

Kylian Mbappe was fortunately on hand to score two penalties to cancel out Timothy Weah’s opener for the French side.

Xabi Alonso will be left scratching his head with issues at the back again, with ever-versatile captain Federico Valverde at least able to step in at full-back.

There was more good news on the bench as Jude Bellingham made his return earlier than expected from a shoulder injury – although he was unused.

And teenage forward Franco Mastantuono became the youngest player to start for Real in the Champions League, at the age of 18 years and 33 days old.
