The 16th round of Serie A fixtures is well underway, but this weekend does not feature any league matches involving Inter, Milan, Napoli or Bologna due to their commitments in the Supercoppa Italiana. Here is when their re-arranged matches are due to take place.
Inter, Milan, Napoli and Bologna were the four teams involved in this season’s Supercoppa Italiana, which got underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening.
Goals from David Neres and Rasmus Hojlund gave Napoli a 2-0 victory against Milan in the first semi-final on Thursday evening, while Bologna qualified for the final after a penalty shoot-out victory against Inter on Friday night.
The Partenopei and Rossoblu will meet again at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh for the Supercoppa Italiana final on Friday night.
This has been described as the ‘justified’ final, as, despite the recent move to a four-team format, the reigning Serie A and Coppa Italia champions have qualified for the final anyway.
Had they not been involved in Supercoppa Italiana action this week, Napoli would have hosted Parma, Inter would have hosted Lecce, Bologna would have visited Verona and Milan would have taken on Como at the Stadio Sinigaglia.
All four of these matches are now due to be played on the midweek slot of January 14 and January 15.
Napoli vs. Parma is due to kick-off at 17.30 GMT on Wednesday, January 14, while Inter vs. Lecce is scheduled to begin at 19.45 GMT on the same day.
Verona vs. Bologna will kick off at 17.30 GMT on Thursday, January 15, while Como vs. Milan will kick-off in the 19.45 GMT slot.
This mini-round of Serie A matches will take place between the 20th and 21st rounds of league fixtures.
