Video: Deiola talks you through amazing Puskas Award nominated Cagliari goal

Cagliari defender Alessandro Deiola has seen his Serie A goal nominated for the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award, so he talks us through the remarkable move.

While the vast majority of the goals up for the FIFA award are moments of individual brilliance, this one stands out because it is such a sweeping team move involving several players.

It was scored during Cagliari’s 3-0 victory over Venezia in May 2025, and was finished off by the Deiola curling strike into the far top corner.

The Sardinian social media team sat him down and let him talk through the build-up to that fantastic goal, including the importance of the nutmeg, back-heel flick, and running into space.
